Hey, I was reading your article and I just wanted to say thank you for putting out such great content. There's so much nonsense on the internet these days its hard to find anything worthwhile. I actually have cooked this recipe before, I got this book last month on recommendation from a friend http://ninjahq.com/go/cookingrecipes and it turned out really nice! I'm very eager to try your variation of it though, it looks fantastic. I think you might enjoy those recipes, they're very good. Thanks for the article and great ideas.

THC will not bind the milk fat molecules. To make a more potent form of butter, start by placing the butter in a crockpot on high for an hour or so. A white foamy residue, the milk fat, will rise to the top and you can scrape it off with a spoon and discard. You can cool the remaining butter and repeat this process if necessary. By purchasing high quality butter, you will be left with more butter and less discarded milk fat and will only need to go through the clarification process once.

Once the butter has been clarified, you can add the weed to the crockpot. One ounce of weed to one pound of butter is sufficient if you are using good weed like Kush buds, but two ounces should be used if using trimmings. If using schwag, the ratio should probably be doubled: two ounces of schwag for every one pound of butter. Let the weed sit on Low for up to 8 hours in the crockpot with an occasion stir then refrigerate for 8 hours. Complete this heating and cooling cycle 1-3 times.

Once the heating and cooling cycles are done, it is time to strain the weed from the clarified butter. A cheesecloth works just fine and you get the most butter out of the sloggy mixture this way, but the timing is tricky since the butter must be warm enough to be a fluid liquid but cool enough not peel the skin off your hands. Since this is always a hit and miss game, using a coffee french press is just as easy and cleaner. So pour the mixture into the french press, press, and the store the butter in containers that can be frozen in case it isn't used within the next few weeks.

Not only is the weed butter much more potent because the THC is binding to all the clarified butter molecules, but the milk fat isn't taking up unnecessary volume or adding dead calories. Also, by clarifying the butter the treats will have a much longer shelf life and not need refrigeration due the lack of a dairy product ingredient (assuming the treat doesn't contain other dairy items).

It takes some planning (need about 2-3 days to make a good batch), and a few kitchen utensils (crockpot, french coffee press, storage containers), but the results are EXCELLENT.

Hope this helps!

This totally works with stuff you've already smoked through the vaporizer. You just need more of it. About 1 1/2 ounces for every pound of butter.

Just wanted to thank you for your great post; this is the kind of thing that continues to keep me motivated during the day. I've been looking around for this website after being referred to them by a buddy and was delighted when I was able to find it after searching for some time. Obviously, being a blogger myself, I am pleased to see others taking initiative and contributing to the community. Just wanted to comment and show my appreciation for these posts as it's actually very encouraging, and many writers don't get the acknowledgment they deserve. I am sure I'll be back and will refer some of my friends here.
