Snoop Dogg is no stranger to touting his love for marijuana, and he’s not pleased that his weed-toking buddy, Willie Nelson was pinched for possessing the green stuff. The Doggfather recently spoke on the country legend’s arrest after border patrol at Sierra Blanca, Texas detained him for possessing six ounces of the sticky icky.

“They better leave Willie the f— alone!” a heated Snoop told TMZ. “Willie Nelson is a legend, man. Really, sometimes you gotta back off certain people and have a certain amount of respect for your elders. Willie Nelson is our elder. He’s somebody who lived through many decades of music and hard times and whatnot and living good and going up and down. So give him that respect.”

The Cali rapper continued his tirade by going after the police officer who put him behind bars. ‘Who’s the motherf—er that arrested him? I want to know who’s the police officer that said ‘You’re under arrest. You’ve got a right to remain silent.’ You dumb motherf–ker, you. You stupid motherf—er you. What you think you going to gain by arresting Willie Nelson? He got out and he back smoking right now!”

Snoop collaborated with his toke buddy on ‘My Medicine,’ a track dedicated to pot that was included on his 2008 album ‘Ego Trippin’.’ He capped his diatribe by cementing his love for Nelson and issuing a warning: “If you got a problem with Willie Nelson, you got a problem with me!”

Pot ice cream? Sounds like a stoner’s dream, doesn’t it? In California, those with a legal medical marijuana card can go to High Scream and get marijuana-infused ice cream. It’s widely known that not only can weed be smoked or inhaled, it can also be infused into food.

Brownies, muffins, and breads are all common foods used with the drug. However, it’s not just “baked” goods anymore – the new hot item is actually quite cold – ice cream.

Boasting flavors with Ben and Jerry’s sounding names like Banannabis Foster, Straw-Mari Cheesecake and TRIPle Chocolate Brownie (and more on the way) this ice cream will not only taste fab and leave you satisfied, it also makes the person eating it feel better.

You have to admit – a lot of creative things come out of California. Sadly, not everyone can try the legal medical marijuana ice cream. You have to have a doctor’s orders!

The cost is $15 for a half pint, which contains 2 to 4 doses of pot.

Americans view alcohol and cigarettes as more dangerous than marijuana.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that just 17% of Adults rate use of marijuana as riskier than drinking alcohol. Fifty percent (50%) say alcohol is more dangerous, while 26% rate the two as equally risky. These findings are consistent with a survey last August.

Even a majority of adults who drink alcohol rate it as more dangerous than marijuana. Those who never drink alcohol are more closely divided.

Similarly, 46% say smoking cigarettes is more dangerous than smoking pot. Twenty-four percent (24%) disagree and say marijuana use is more dangerous. One-in-four (25%) view the two as equally dangerous.

Twenty-six percent (26%) of adults say smoking cigarettes should be outlawed, while 42% think marijuana should remain an illegal drug.  Americans are evenly divided over whether marijuana should be legalized in the United States, but most expect legalization to happen within the next decade.

The survey of 1,000 Adults was conducted on July 21-22, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

Men feel more strongly than women that both alcohol and cigarettes are more dangerous than marijuana. Adults across all age groups share that belief, although younger Americans believe it even more strongly.

When it comes to alcohol, twenty percent (20%) of Americans drink several times a week, including nine percent (9%) who drink every day or nearly every day. Twenty-seven percent (27%) say they never drink.

Forty percent (40%) of Adults say they have smoked marijuana at some point in their lives. Eleven percent (11%) say they’ve smoked it in the past year. Those ages 18 to 29 are much more likely to have smoked marijuana in the past year than their elders.

Men drink more heavily than women. Twice as many married adults say they drink every day than unmarried adults, but unmarrieds are more than twice as likely as marrieds to have smoked pot in the past year. Those who say they’ve smoked marijuana drink more than those who have not tried pot.

How did the word for a common kitchen instrument become slang for marijuana?

Actually, the origin of pot has nothing to do with the culinary tools. The word came into use in America in the late 1930s. It is a shortening of the Spanish potiguaya or potaguaya that came from potación de guaya, a wine or brandy in which marijuana buds have been steeped. It literally means “the drink of grief.”

Tonight, this grief drink will be the topic of hot debate when city council members in Oakland, California vote on a historic measure that would create licensed medical marijuana factories.

If the plan is approved, the city would license four production plants that would grow, package, and process medical marijuana. Supporters say the plan will provide the city with two things it direly needs: tax revenue and jobs. Opponents decry the wholesale legitimization of a substance that is a narcotic in most of the United States.

Like pot, the word marijuana refers to cannabis, the hemp plant Cannabis sativa. The plant grows naturally in central Asia and other warm regions. Its uses vary from recreational to medicinal to religious.

Marijuana is the dried leaves and female flowers of the hemp plant. The word’s origin dates back to the late nineteenth century. It is an Americanism for the Mexican Spanish marihuana or mariguana, which is associated with the personal name María Juana.

Another name for marijuana is Mary Jane, the English version of María Juana. Mary Jane also refers to a small, round sponge cake and a brand of young girls’ patent leather shoes.

Whatever you call it — ganja, weed, reefer, tea, bhang, leaf, or skunk — it may soon be legally factory farmed in record amounts in Oakland. What do you think?
